A legendary traditional market in Jogjakarta. A lot of tasty food with reasonable price available here. The location was very easy to find and surrounded with a historical place. You can both traveling and shopping here.
Always use 50% bargain from the first price of the buyer if you think the price was reasonable. Especiallu for food, better to ask the price first before you buy.
The parking space was located close to the front gate.

This traditional market is not only open in the morning, but also in the evening... In the morning we can get some vegetables, fish, meat, fruits, etc inside of this market.. in the evening, there is some traditional street food in front of this market.. there is apem, wedang ronde, gorengan, gudangan, jajan pasar, angkringan, pukis, jamu, sate, batagor, bakso, etc.. During the pandemic season is good for us to take away our food, because there is no healthy protocol in this market.. the price is so ceap.. this market is almost open 24 hour

This district is having important role in mataram islam history but we cant see the trace. We can’t find the story easily.
Kotagede is the first capital of mataram-islam kingdom; the city design is using CATUR GATRA TUNGGAL principle. This city is having 4 important element and enclosed with the fort. Those 4 elements are the palace, plaza, mosque and market. We couldn’t see the palace or even the plaza, but we can see it manifested in the vilage toponim
The other unique point of this place is the kalang houses; the house that build by the rich merchants making new architecture style beyond the palace’s architecture style
It’s sad that the local government couldn’t display the big story of this place

Very enthusiastic when visiting this traditional market. Local culinary, cheap prices but rich in delicacy. Nearby this market you can visit Yogyakarta Sultanate Mausoleum, Chocolate Monggo Factory, Vintage Housing for Photoshoot, and Silver Crafting.
