Shiva is a Hindu God as "the Destroyer."
One of the trinity of supreme divinity in Hinduism.
Shiva has many aspects, benevolent as well as fearsome.
Shiva is also known as Adiyogi Shiva, regarded as the patron god of yoga, meditation and the arts.
He is depicted as with the serpent around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the third eye on his forehead, the trident as his weapon.

in many ways this is better than Borobudur since there are less people and it is set in a big beautiful park with lots of trees and grass. if you have a KITAS use it and go to the local entrance. stunning for sunsets and interesting. local guides are very knowledgeable and will give a lot of interesting information.

Another beautiful temple within walking distance to Prambanan. Very worth the walk as it is also very detailed and under reconstruction.

Nice view and good knowing the heritage temple. Can see the shillouette when sunset. Peaceful

The panels depict Ramayana. There is a book available in information desk which gives panel wise description but it costs IDR 100,000. Or view the audio visual show at museum.
In all Hindu temples Lord Siva is worshipped as Linga- phallus. But here as the statue which is very rare.
