Candi Tikus (Rat Temple) is a relic of the Hindu-style kingdom located in the Trowulan Complex, precisely in the hamlet of Dinuk, Temon Village, Trowulan District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java. The name 'Rat' is just a designation used by the local community. It is said that, when it was discovered, the place where the temple is located is a rat's nest. The building of the Candi Tikus resembles a "pool" in the form of a pond with several buildings in it. Nearly all rectangular buildings with a size of 29.5 m x 28.25 m are made of red bricks. Interestingly, it is located lower than about 3.5 m from the surrounding land surface. On the top surface there is a corridor about 75 cm wide that surrounds the building. On the inner side, down about 1 m, there is a wider corridor around the edge of the pond. The entrance to the temple is on the north side, in the form of a 3.5 m wide ladder leading to the bottom of the pool. Another interesting thing is the presence of two types of bricks of different sizes used in the construction of this temple. The temple's foot consists of a large arrangement of red bricks that are closed with a smaller size of red bricks. Aside from the foot of the building, there are also two types of water fountains in this temple, which are made of brick and those made of andesite.
