My favorite tourist attraction in Medan, if you have very limited time to be spent in Medan, Maimoon Palace is the place to go.
I visited the palace on 27/May/2022, it was Friday, didn’t need to wait to enter the palace.
Tourists can see a horse when walking on the garden path to the palace.
The price of the ticket is IDR 10,000, quite affordable.
There are 3 rooms open to visitors, on the balcony in front of the first room, visitors can hear three musicians playing Malay songs, which are in cheerful tones. Can we visitors politely request the song of “Selayang Pandang” to be played?☺️
In the front room, several keris are exhibited in a cabinet, and on the wall there is an illustration shows the symbols of each royal family, can be distinguished by the color and pattern.
In the middle room, it is the grandest one, visitors can see photos of Sultans, and the largest portrait is the fourteenth Sultan, Aria Lamantjiji, who can be described as a brilliant young Sultan (recommend reading the public information/news of the Sultan, then probably you will understand how honorable the Sultan is).
The decorations are elaborate, full of Arabian and European ambience.
Visitors may rent traditional clothing for photography purposes.
For me, the family tree in the third room is the most interesting one, if I am not mistaken, it shows sultans of Deli, Serdang, Selangor, Johor, etc.
I am keen to know the history of Malay sultans, and still look for the reading materials.
Souvenirs are available in these rooms.
I enjoyed every minute in the Maimoon Palace, thankful that such a beautiful place is open to public. ????
If have one more opportunity to visit Medan, definitely I will visit the Maimoon Palace again, and linger in it.
